Marriage and Family Therapy Program Director

POSITION: The Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Program Director holds a nine-month, full-time, tenure-track faculty position with .25 flexible summer administrative responsibilities in the Department of Family and Child Sciences, College of Human Sciences, beginning August 2010. Position is open at the associate or full professor level.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have the following qualifications: earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy or related field; credentials eligible for faculty appointment at the rank of associate or full professor; AAMFT clinical membership and Approved Supervisor status; and a strong record of administration, research, teaching, and clinical training.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful MFT Program Director candidate will be instrumental in the continued quality of this AAMFT approved doctoral program. The director is expected to contribute to the scholarly activity of the department, including the procurement of extramural funding, research, teaching, and service. Responsibilities include curriculum development, accreditation, overseeing the management of the MFT clinic and clinical staff, and representing the MFT program at the department, university, and national levels.

THE DEPARTMENT: The focus of the Department of Family and Child Sciences (FCS) is to address family processes and empirically-supported relational interventions. Our research, teaching and service activities emphasize three areas: relational development and enhancement in young adult, couples, and families; distressed families and relational interventions; and the link between parenting processes and relational outcomes. FCS currently has 14 faculty, 528 undergraduate students, and 60 Masters/Ph.D. students. THE COLLEGE OF HUMAN SCIENCES, which began in 1905, is the flagship program in human sciences in Florida and has as its mission to address global challenges and opportunities related to the physical, behavioral, and economic factors influencing the health and development of individuals, families and communities. The College is comprised of three departments: Family and Child Sciences, Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences, and Textiles and Consumer Sciences. There are six centers and institutes including the FSU Family Institute which is a multidisciplinary unit established to bring together faculty, students, government, and community resources to provide a centralized source of information, research capacity, and critical thinking related to families.
