Human Sciences Student Advisory Council (HSSAC)

The Human Sciences Student Advisory Council is composed of undergraduate students in the College of Human Sciences (CHS). Their mission is to strengthen the unity among the students, faculty and organizations within the College. HSSAC represents CHS students by acting as a liaison with the administration as well as promoting the “CHS experience” to other students outside the College.

Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC)

The Graduate Student Advisory Council provides a communication link between students, faculty and administration and serve as an advocate for graduate students by establishing priorities, presenting ideas and recommending policies and procedures concerning the College. GSAC serves the needs of graduate students through peer mentoring and promotes and facilitates interest in graduate education and scholarly activities.

American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorist Student Chapter (AATCC)
The AATCC addresses the interests of students related to textile product development and quality assurance. It is affiliated with the national organization and a group of members attends national and regional conferences when possible. The student organization provides opportunities for field trips to production and testing facilities and participates in the annual Product Development program hosted each spring by the TCS Department.

Collegiate Merchandising Association (CMA)
CMA addresses the interests of students related to retailing careers and issues. The organization sponsors campus receptions and presentations for retail firms who are conducting interviews. CMA also sponsors field trips and speakers and gives a scholarship each semester to a senior member. CMA participates in the activities of Merchandising Week each year.

Exercise Science Club
The Exercise Science Club addresses the interests of students related to the professional and social aspects of exercise science including careers, research opportunities, graduate degrees, and recreation. The club activities include meeting and hearing from professionals and opportunities to attend the American College of Sports Medicine conferences.

Fashion Inc.
Fashion Inc. addresses the interests of students related to current fashion trends and the promotion of student designers in TCS. A major function of the organization is the Annual Fashion Show of FSU student designers which is produced each spring. Fashion Inc. also has the opportunity to assist with the fashion promotion activities of local firms and participates in the annual Manufacturing Seminar program hosted each spring by TCS.

FSU Chapter of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS)
The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences was founded in 1909 it purpose was to improve the quality and standards of individual and family life through programs that educate, influence public policy, disseminate information, and research findings. The AAFCS is the only national organization that represents family and consumer science professionals across practice areas and content specializations. This association's 14,000 members are working to empower individuals, strengthen families, and enable communities to grow.

TCS Student Ambassadors
Student Ambassadors are responsible for informing students a high schools, community colleges and FSU’s campus about the Department of Textiles and Consumer Sciences and its wide range of programs. Students in this organization are responsible for two presentations each semester at either high schools and/or community colleges in Tallahassee and its surrounding area or in their home towns. Student Ambassadors participate in various campus orientations and are available to talk with prospective students.

Student Dietetic Association (SDA)
SDA addresses the interests of students related to nutrition and dietetics. The organization interacts with dietetic professionals, local and state dietetic organizations, and within the local community to expose students of various avenues available for careers. SDA activities include: speakers, fundraising for activities of interest, personal interaction with professors, assisting the Florida Dietetic Association with annual events, and feeding individuals at a local homeless shelter several times a year.
