The outreach programs of the College of Human Sciences address the health and development of individuals, families and communities. Faculty currently have close to $4 million in contracts and grants, a significant increase in recent years. The College’s work in outreach programs demonstrates its commitment to extend knowledge of the human sciences to the public. We use our research to seek “Solutions for Better Life.”

  • Family Institute - The Florida State University Family Institute is a Florida-based resource generating new information, training professionals, and informing policy makers regarding families in Florida, the region, and the nation. The Institute serves as an interdisciplinary source of information about children and families, and involves recognized experts in the field who serve as resource persons and references. The FSU Family Institute stands as a concrete reminder that the family, in all its diverse forms, is the foundation of society and that the University, through the Institute, serves as an advocate for healthy families in Florida and the nation.

  • Marriage and Family Therapy Center - The Interdivisional Program in Marriage and Family Therapy is in the Department of Family and Child Sciences. The mission of the program is to produce marriage and family therapy scholars and researchers, who are leaders and innovators in understanding and addressing the needs of contemporary families. Students from across the country and around the world pursue their doctoral degree in this program.
