The Honors in the Major program provides talented students the opportunity to engage in independent, original research or creative work, culminating in a thesis or project report that is defended before a faculty committee. Each Honors student earns six to nine hours of 4000-level thesis credit over two or three semester terms. Honors work may be done only in the major in which the student will receive a baccalaureate degree. Students, who complete the program, graduate “With Honors” in their major.

Requirements for Acceptance into the Program:

  • 60 credit hours (12 hours at FSU for transfer students);
  • A cumulative FSU G.P.A. of 3.2 or higher (3.5 G.P.A. is required for students in Family and Child Sciences); and
  • A meeting with a staff member of the Honors Program. Please contact FSU’s Honors Program at (850) 644-1841 to make an appointment.
