The Eminent Scholar Chair in Human Sciences is a chair designated for the College that is currently held by Frank Fincham in the Department of Family and Child Sciences.
Dr. Fincham’s research interests include: Marriage/partnership (particularly cognitive processes involved in conflict), the impact of interparental conflict/divorce on children, forgiveness particularly in family relationships, divorce education, and relationship development.
Bahram Arjmandi, Chair of the Department of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences and Margaret A. Sitton Professor, is a nationally recognized nutrition researcher. Dr. Arjmandi’s research interests include: bone and calcium metabolism, osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, sterol biosynthesis, and functional food and health.
Carol A. Darling
holds the Margaret Rector Sandels Professorship. She is a nationally recognized family studies scholar, recipient of FSU’s Distinguished Teaching Award, and a past president of the National Council on Family Relations. Dr. Darling’s research interests include: family stress and resilience, international family life education, human sexuality and sexuality education, cultural diversity and multicultural education.
Emily Haymes,
C. Etta Walters Professor of Exercise Science, is a nationally recognized exercise science scholar. Dr. Haymes’ research interests include: nutrition and performance, environmental effects of exercise, physical activity and chronic disease prevention.
Yun-Hwa Peggy Hsieh, Betty M. Watts Professor of Nutrition, Food and Exercise Sciences is a distinguished researcher who holds nine patented and patent-pending technologies. Dr. Hsieh’s research interests include the development of antibodies and immunoassay for rapid detection for food quality and safety, as well as functional food research.
Robert E. Lee, is the Norajane Hendrickson Professor in Family and Child Sciences and Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy program. Dr. Lee’s research interests include: education and training in marital and family therapy, and best practices in family therapy supervision, foster care, and in whole family psychometric assessment.
Cathy Levenson holds the Hazel K. Stiebeling Professorship of Nutrition and Food. In addition to being a member of the Nutrition faculty in the College of Human Sciences, Dr. Levenson is also on the faculty of the Program in Neuroscience and the Graduate Program in Molecular Biophysics. Dr. Levenson’s research interests in nutritional neuroscience include: trace metal regulation of brain gene expression, molecular regulation of neuronal proliferation, survival, and differentiation, role of zinc, copper and iron neurodegenerative disorders, brain injury, and behavior.
Bob Moffatt,
Georgia Alice Stamford Professor of Exercise Physiology, is a nationally recognized exercise science scholar. Dr. Moffatt’s research interests include: exercise and lipoprotein metabolism, effects of cigarette smoking and cessation from smoking on energy balance and lipoprotein metabolism.
Mary Ann Moore is the Carol Avery Professor of Textiles and Consumer Sciences and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College. Dr. Moore’s research interests include: textile product development, color theory and application and textile industry issues.
Shridhar Sathe,
D.K. Salunkhe Professor of Food Science, has an astounding record of significant scholarly contributions to the field of food science. Dr. Sathe’s research interests include: physicochemical and nutritional aspects of food chemistry. Research emphasis in protein biochemistry and food allergies.
