RMPD Receives $1 Million Gift From vrSoftware
The Department of Retail Merchandising and Product Development secures a $1 million gift from vrSoftware. vrSoftware, based in the UK, has donated 200 new licenses for their visual display program, Mockshop, to the Department of Retail Merchandising and Product Development. This state of the art program allows students to build three-dimensional virtual stores, using the software's floor plans for small, medium and large stores. The students select paint colors, flooring, carpeting, ceilings and lights, and fill the stores with fixtures and merchandise. While Mockshop includes photo files, students can load their own photos of actual products to place in the virtual stores. They can also display clothing by folding, hanging or placing it on mannequins. Mockshop is used by industry leaders such as Nike, Calvin Klein, Macy's, and Tommy Hilfiger among countless others around the world. “vrSoftware’s generous gift will keep our students at the cutting edge of merchandising technology, making them even more marketable with retailers,” said Dean Billie Collier. “We envision a lasting partnership with vrSoftware and anticipate that Mockshop will become an anchor for our program infrastructure.”
